Have a set of 5 ton ball and claw axles. Was wondering what the strength comparison would be to 2.5 ton u joint axles. I'm thinking of selling them to go back to 2.5 ton u joint because they are really bigger than I need but curious before I do sell them

I'm planning on trying my fairly built 383. If that isn't enough i will be building a mild 454. I have 18.4-26s but am also thinking about 16.9-24s. Won't be racing wit them. Just a play truck. 02 Dodge quad cab. I'm sure they are overkill for a 383 and 16.9-24s but the deal was right. Before I sell them I figured I'd do some research

I used to run 23.1 x 26 rice and canes. Welded front. Never broke an axle. They are plenty strong.
