Sometimes I just don't think the V.A. gives a damn. I hate how things have turned out.

Man thanks for your service to our country! Im not a vet but am very proud of you guys and what you have sacrificed to keep us all safe. It pisses me off how the government treats Vets when they come back and they are taking what youve so rightfully earned and giving it to scumbag illegals now. Im sure that im not the only one on here that feels that way and would gladly help with what we can if you need something or help with anything. Even if you need to vent man dont heistate to send a message my way, im open ears. Just know that if the dirtbags in washington turn their back, you have a lot of thankful Americans that will gladly step in. Thanks again for your service man.

Hey man i know how you feel. It took me over a 9 months just to be able to take and get my compensation from the va. I fractured my elbow while i was in and have been trying to get them to do something about it because it has been giving me problems. I just had a cat scan done and it only took 9 months from the time i went to the va. Now Im waiting to here from the orthopedic surgeon. But i have been out since July 21st 2011 and have been fighting to get my discharge upgraded and i go before the Army discharge review board on Aug 26th. Just don't give up. We can't help that our great president screwed us all over hardcore.

I think most guys with high stress jobs over there all left something there and brought back something the didnt want...

I was a contracted heavy wheeled mechanic over there, I'm not the same, its hard to live normally after coming back. I sent thousands of men and women into battle in vehicles I fixed, I never lost a truck or a soldier cause of a repair, hell, I got a big brass shield from a full bird for stuff I did, I get back here and can only get a job making minimum wage at a parts store, and told I would never get a raise no matter how good I did or how much I sold. I'm making good money now in the oilfields but its the same, I'll never seea raise for an additional 18 months on top of the 14 months I've been here. I was part of something great before, now none of it matters...

My dad was a door gunner in Vietnam. He signed up to be a helicopter mechanic. He was not prepared to hang out of aircraft and have to shoot people. He saw some terrible things. Things he could never get out of his head. Hes spent the rest of his life in the bottle to forget. That doesn't work. I'm not in your shoes but I've seen what it does to men an think you either dwell on it forever or just do everything possible to make things better. I know its damn sure not a choice you really make yourself cause who would want that? I hope things turn around for you because anyone who signs up to serve our country deserves to feel good about themselves an be compensated for forever changing their life. My dad is still fighting with the VA for his benefits so your not alone.

Well, things are looking up, got a new job that is vet friendly and it has kept me very busy with a bunch of OT and as long as I'm busy I don't have time to dwell on things. To all who have posted words of encouragement, thank you! It does help knowing perfect strangers care. And to all of you who have served or have loved ones who served, THANK YOU
