I have a buddy with 2000 Ford F250 7.3 4x4 with a 6 speed. Wants to run 5 tons and a drop box. I guess the main question is does he have to change out the 6-speed to a 2 wheel drive 6 speed or automatic? Then how big of a lift to run 23.1 and what gears in the drop box.

He can keep the standard and run two cases. Lift all depends on how you want the truck to sit on or off the tires. Gear ratio of the scs is going to depend on the gear ratio of the transmission, factory case, and overall power of the engine.
