buddy is SAS'ing his truck as we speak.. its a 97 z71 with the 4L60E... the kit he used was for 32" spring pad width so that left him with 2 options... chevy front D60 or the ultra rare 78/79 Ford HPD60... anyway he got a smoking deal on a chevy 60 front so decided to use it... since his 4L60E trans is still good for now (and as you know the new process t-case in it now is drivers side output) can he bolt an older 80's model chevy np208 up to the 4L60E so he can hook up his front driveline for now? I know the 60E is basically a revised/electrical 700r4 which the np208 came behind...

psst... vss. u kinda that to make the trans shift.i did this exact t case swap in my burb
i took the vss reluctor ring from the stock case, put it in the 208 and machined a spacer to align it. then i fpund a vss from a caprice that kinda fit the spot on the 208 where the speedo sender bolts in.i machined the vss to fit better and sealed it with rtv and made a bracket to hold it in place.

OR the easier way is to get a 241 out of a k-5 blazer with the passenger side front output.

Like everyone else has said above, the case will bolt up without a problem but you lose the speedo sensor that the tranny needs to shift. I did the same thing on my Z71. There are a couple options here. You can find an np241 like said above out of the K5 blazers and suburbans from 88-90 that drop on passenger side but still manual shift but electric speedo which are kinda rare, you can also use a newer np241 that drops on the driver side and just clock the case 180 degrees by drilling the 6 bolt adapter but then the shifter is upside down and impossible to hook a shifter to unless you are using a cable shifter. You can also make your own sensor like the guy above by finding a reluctor ring that will work with the output shaft and make a mount for you sensor or if money isnt an issue you can by the speedo kit from advanced adapter that come with a clamp on style reluctor ring and everything needed to put a threaded speedo sensor on the rear of the tranny case. Also, not sure what axles you are using but ford 8.8, 10.25 and 10.5 rear axles have speedo sensor in the diff that you can wire to as well.

sounds like the 241 out of the blazer/burban would be the easiest. Is the shift lever going to be in the same spot - or can the stock floor shifter location in his 98 z71 be used?

also, what about later on when he swaps to a 4L80E after the 60E grenades? will that 241 bolt up to the 80E? or is there another case that needs to be used?

Not going to be ale to use the stock shifter without some fabrication, the shifter linkage is the same location as the the 208.

You could change the input of the case to the 32 spline so it fits the 4l80e. You will need a 27 spline input for the 4l60e.
